Primož Roglič Cycling Path

The Primož Roglič Cycling Path is an approximately 10-kilometre-long local cycling route in the Zasavje region of Slovenia, connecting Zagorje ob Savi with the settlement of Orehovica near Izlake. It is named after Primož Roglič, one of Slovenia’s most successful professional cyclists, who began his sporting journey in this very area. The route passes through a diverse mix of urban and natural landscapes. It starts at the railway station in Zagorje, continues through the town centre and Dr. Janez Drnovšek Park, and follows local roads towards Kisovec, passing areas connected to Roglič’s upbringing. The path then continues along the Medija River, crossing bridges, valleys, and smaller settlements all the way to Orehovica. A key feature of the route is its strong connection to local history and sporting heritage. Along the path, visitors can also find the Primož Roglič Park, which showcases his greatest achievements and adds a strong symbolic and inspirational value to the route. The cycling path is suitable for families, recreational cyclists, and local leisure rides. Most of the route runs on separated cycling infrastructure, with some sections on quiet local roads, ensuring a safe and relaxed cycling experience through the Zasavje region. Due to its varied terrain and short climbs, it is also engaging for more active cyclists. The Primož Roglič Cycling Path is a great example of how local infrastructure can combine sport, community, and the inspiring story of a world-class athlete, bringing it into everyday cycling experiences.
